7 Uni Hacks for the newbies

1. The experience is larger than life.
Life at university is indeed a roller coaster ride. You’ll experience some of the best and worst moments of your life. Sometimes you will feel lost, stressed, overwhelmed or a lot of other things all at once; just take a nap or eat a snack and you’ll be fine.

2. You are here to learn how to use the knowledge you have (you know nothing, but you actually know everything).
“Reading for a degree” requires you to do extra hours of reading which is so unrealistic. Therefore at least attending lectures is a smart move you should make because it will actually help you quite a lot. Getting good grades with higher GPA requires a bit of hard work. Ask questions and clear your doubts, lecturers are here to help you out.

3. There are clubs and societies for anything and everything.
You will get opportunities do all sorts of activities be it posing for a picture to win a best smile competition or participating for a walk to raise funds for community service projects, but what matters is remembering to enjoy whatever you do. This is the time, you’ll never be young and free again. Interacting with people and making contacts is something you’ll cherish later in your life. So take a chance, grab opportunities and engage as much as humanly possible.

4. You need to work out how to get your things done.
Don’t follow what everyone else is doing. You choose what is best for you. Some like to work according to a plan and some like to go with the flow. Every day is a constant battle of trying to figure things out, from the battle of trying to get out of bed for early morning lectures (8 o’clock is early) to trying to stay awake in lectures…so remember not to sweat on little things. Mix up your routine if needed but somehow get your stuff done by hook or by crook.

5. Never leave your assignments to the last minute.
Procrastinating on your assignments won’t get you anywhere, it’ll only get you into  more trouble. If you are a last minute person(which everyone is) and planning to finish your assignment at the computer lab, then mind you it gets pretty busy when the deadline is nearing and they follow a strict policy of closing the lab at SHARP 4.00 p.m.!!!

6. You get loads of time to waste, waste it wisely.
In the hassle of lectures, exams, assignments, workshops, projects, events and birthday surprises, you DO get a lot of time to waste. So it’s okay to spend time chatting about endless matters or binge watching that Turkish drama you’ve been eyeing for ages as long as you don’t feel guilty afterwards*sigh*

7. The friendships you make will last lifelong. Guaranteed.
For the things you go through together, these fellows will have a special place in your heart. This will be the bunch who will dance till they fall at your wedding and whom your kids will call aunt and uncle. The memories you make will be treasured for the rest of your life.

There you go, a few uni hacks for the people heading to uni soon.Though nothing could really prepare you for that big-fat-ride .Individual uni experience may vary depending on the person but I’m sure most would agree with me on these.
So just buckle up and enjoy the roller coaster ride!
